    About the Home:
Our philosophy of care reflects a resident's right to self-determination and autonomy. Accessibility for deaf seniors is the first step in assuring them of their rights and ability to make decisions. Emphasis is placed on communication. Residents have the right to understand and be understood in a communication mode of their choice not someone else's. Staff will be trained in the various modes of communication and ongoing upgrading of these skills will be required.

    Residents have comfortable, individualized rooms

The design of our home supports our belief that isolation of deaf seniors can be prevented by ensuring a unique environment, which promotes and preserves deaf culture, language, and heritage.

Home areas are divided into houses, which are conducive to seniors who depend on a visually oriented environment, taking into account specialized lighting techniques and interior design requirements. Technical devices such as visual fire alarm system, visual call bell system, captioned TV's TTY's, and LED message boards have been included.

The design supports a therapeutic environment that is non-stressful, familiar and safe allowing for freedom of movement within a secure space.

Residents can choose from four coordinating sets for their curtains, bed covers, throw and pillow

An integrated model of care will allow staff to assist residents in all areas of their daily life, creating a personal and home like atmosphere. Staff will be able to develop a relationship with the resident that will assist them to see not just the resident but also the person.

Residents can select from a choice of meals
