The Bob Rumball Camp for the Deaf is located in Parry Sound Ontario Canada. It is a short two-hour drive north of Toronto.
The Camp was established in 1960 as a project of the Evangelical Church
of the
Deaf and the Ontario Mission of the Deaf. The camp's purpose then as it is now is to be an extension
of the work of the Church.
In 1960, the pastor of the Deaf Church, Rev. R. Rumball had a vision to have a facility in the heart
of Ontario where a deaf child could enjoy everything that a summer camp could offer, but in an
environment with out any communication barriers. The Bob Rumball Camp for the Deaf is that place.
In 1960 the facility was nothing more than three farm houses, a barn for the boys to sleep in and
a chicken coop that served as the kitchen and girls dorm.
Over the years the facility grew and improved thanks to help from the Lions service clubs.
In 1992 a decision was made to expand our facility and open up on a year round basis.

A major fundraising campaign began. In the Summer of 1993 we opened the door of the Don Durno
Lodge that has a full size gym, assembly hall, dining room and accommodation for 100 people.
Today we can house over 200 guests in year round dormitories, cottages and special need guest rooms.
O.C.D is a place of opportunity for deaf, hard of hearing and multiple handicapped young
people.
The camp is located around two private lakes. Children can enjoy, water skiing, kayaking, and canoeing
without the fear of other boaters.
Campers can challenge our 25 or 33 foot dive tower or play "Tarzan" on the rope swing. Traditional
camp activities such as baseball, soccer, and arts and crafts are all waiting to be enjoyed.
O.C.D also offers a wide variety of winter activities. We are minutes from the provincial snowmobile
trail system. We have tobogganing, inner tubing, and ice-skating. A Family holiday or winter getaway
are waiting.
The Bob Rumball Camp for the Deaf is operated by the Ontario Mission of the Deaf and is governed by a
volunteer Board of Directors.
