Adult Education Services

We offer two adult education programs at Bob Rumball Canadian Centre for the Deaf.

LBS (Literacy and Basic Skills): LBS targets deaf and hard of hearing adults in Ontario, aged 18-64, aiming to enhance foundational literacy and numeracy skills, including ASL proficiency.

Eligible participants should have Grade 12 proficiency or equivalent and can benefit from flexible in-person and virtual classes. LBS serves as a pathway to higher education and employment, funded by the Ministry of Labour, with a focus on independence and career opportunities.

LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada): LINC specializes in providing language instruction for deaf and hard of hearing newcomers to Canada.

It focuses on English proficiency, literacy, and ASL comprehension, catering to individuals aged 19 and above who are Permanent Residents.

The program promotes inclusivity for refugees and offers language learning, employment services, and community interaction opportunities. It is funded by IRCC.

All programs are free of charge.
